Chapter News - October 2026

Our Philoptochos chapter passed a special tray at the end of the Divine Liturgy on Sunday September 13th, for the benefit of our Hellenic College Holy Cross seminarians and students. Because of the overwhelming generosity of our parish, we collected $953.00. Our Anthousa Chapter will round up the dollar amount and send a check for $1,000.00 directly to Hellenic College Holy Cross. We are grateful to have such a supporting parish of both our chapter and the marvelous young men and women attending Hellenic College Holy Cross.

We started off our Ecclesiastical Year with our Paint and Sip Membership Event, where a good time was had by all who attended. We have lots more planned!

Sunday, November 1 – Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk (Balboa Park) We can each play a part in helping Susan G. Komen in its ONE mission to end breast cancer forever. We’re stronger together! United as ONE, we can support those who need help today, while fearlessly searching for tomorrow’s cures. Please join Team Anthousa as we support, honor and celebrate our survivors! The event starts at 8:00 am in Balboa Park, we get to take a lovely walk through our beautiful Balboa Park while supporting a great cause before the Divine Liturgy! AGAPE MEALS are offered to our community members during difficult times. If you know of a family in need or are interested in volunteering in providing meals, please reach out to Marian Dougenis at 619-520-3660 or mkdougenis@prodigy.net.

ICON ADORNMENT Philoptochos invites every family to commemorate a special Feast Day in honor of your special someone by offering a donation to cover the cost of decorating the icon with beautiful fresh flowers for veneration in the Narthex. The liturgical year presents many opportunities to honor your family members and an important day in the life of the Church (suggested donation is $85). Please contact Soula in the church office at 619-297-4165 to reserve your date now.

SUNDAY FELLOWSHIP Please consider sponsoring a Sunday Fellowship Hour with your friends and family by providing simple refreshments (donuts or bagels, fruit and juice). You can honor family members or celebrate special occasions. Contact Olympia Kyriakidis at 619-507-6521 or karpenisiotisa@gmail.com, or sign up on the easel in the church hall.
