With November being the month of Thanksgiving, I would like to make you aware that this year, our Anthousa Chapter has donated more than $50,000 to charitable organizations and causes, thanks to the support and generosity of our members and our community. Some of the ministries our chapter supports are Kids ‘n' Cancer, Feeding the Hungry in conjunction with FOCUS, Hellenic College/Holy Cross Seminary, assistance for our Troops and Veterans, Salvation Army & Food Pantry, St. Innocent Orphanage, Disaster & Fire Aid, the Monastery of the Life Giving Spring, St. Nicholas Ranch, San Diego Rescue Mission, and many, many more. Thank you to our members and supporters for making this charitable work possible; without you our mission would not be sustainable.
We have many wonderful events planned for the coming month, holiday season and the New Year!
In December we will hold our Christmas Brunch, which will take place on the feast day of St. Nicholas - Saturday, December 6th, at the beautiful Kona Kai Club on Shelter Island. Make you reservations on our website by clicking on Our Store.
Light the Path with Philoptochos Candles! Beginning this month we are offering some special scented candles for purchase. These 100% soy wax candles are hand poured in San Diego, and available in two beautiful scents. Visit Our Store on our website or the Philoptochos table during fellowship hour to make your purchase. Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit the Bishop Anthony Philoptochos Student Aid Endowment Fund. This ministry provides financial assistance to the students from our San Francisco Metropolis who are attending Hellenic College/Holy Cross Seminary. We appreciate your support!
SUNDAY FELLOWSHIP: Please consider sponsoring a Sunday Fellowship Hour with simple refreshments, such as donuts, bagels, fruit and juice. Honor family members or celebrate special occasions. To sign up, please contact Olympia Kyriakidis at (619) 507-6521 or karpenisiotisa@gmail.com.
AGAPE MEALS: Philoptochos provides meals to community members in need during difficult times. Please reach out to Marian Dougenis at (619) 520-3660 if you or someone you know is in need.
In Christ’s Sisterhood,
